Lena-Maria Böswald
Senior Policy Researcher Digital Public Sphere
Lena-Maria Böswald is a Senior Policy Researcher for interface’s Strengthening the Digital Public Sphere programme where she focuses on platform regulation and the enforcement of the Digital Services Act.
Before joining interface, Lena-Maria worked in advocacy and policy on hate speech and disinformation at Das NETTZ, in social media monitoring at Democracy Reporting International and as a lecturer in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam.
She has previously conducted research at the intersection of disinformation, dynamics of online hate and generative AI. She has presented her research and given keynotes at uOttawa, Weizenbaum Institute and ZEIT Forum Wissenschaft, amongst others, and was featured in Tagesspiegel, Euractiv, and Deutschlandfunk.
Lena-Maria studied media and communications at the University of Regensburg and IHECS Brussels and completed her master's degree in political communication at the University of Amsterdam.
