Sebastian Rieger is the organization’s Communications Director and has also served as a member of the executive team on an interim basis. Since 2014, he has focused on developing interface (formerly Stiftung Neue Verantwortung) into one of Europe’s leading think tanks specializing in technology and public policy.
Sebastian built and leads the think tank’s communications team and technical infrastructure, enabling the organization to promote its research in the media and connect experts with policymakers across multiple European countries and policy areas. His work integrates media relations, public affairs, digital event management, audience development, and highly automated publishing technology.
In addition to his role at interface, Sebastian advises senior leaders from other think tanks and research institutions in Germany and abroad on strategy and communications. Internally, he has trained more than 50 researchers and experts in public relations, public affairs, strategic networking, and fundraising over the past decade.
Sebastian has also conducted his own research and helped initiate projects funded by the German Chancellery and several other European governments and ministries. As an author, his guest articles have appeared in Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
He lives in Berlin, where he spends much of his free time swimming and birdwatching.
