From Regional Practice to Global Action: Implementing Confidence-Building Measures for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure

On the margins of the UN Global Mechanism on ICT Security's first plenary session, the Permanent Missions of the Dominican Republic, Germany, and Ghana convened a side event titled “From Regional Practice to Global Action: Implementing Confidence-Building Measures for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure.” During the panel, Christina Rupp joined Ambassador Claudio Miguel Peguero Castillo, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic; Adelaide Otoo, Cyber Security Authority Ghana; and Szilvia Toth, OSCE to discuss perspectives on implementing cyber CBMs for critical infrastructure protection. Christina shared how the EU addresses cyber threats to critical infrastructure through policies and cooperation mechanisms and provided insights into research by interface’s Helene Pleil on the current state of CBM implementation across regions, highlighting emerging good practices and recommendations to inform the work of the Dedicated Working Groups.
