For DiploFoundation’s Digital Watch initiative, Christina Rupp reflected on the legacy of the UN Open-ended Working Group on security of and in the use of information and communications technologies II, which will conclude its mandate in July 2025. In written commentaries, Christina and other contributors review the OEWG’s most substantive contributions and shortcomings to global ICT security, outline priorities for future dialogues on responsible state behavior in cyberspace, and discuss the feasibility of consensus on a permanent multilateral mechanism discussing cybersecurity under UN auspices.
