On February 27, 2026, Table.Media published an article about planned changes to the legal framework on German foreign intelligence collection.
Interface’s Dr. Thorsten Wetzling spoke to Table.Media about the risk that the forthcoming reform will weaken the protections against disproportionate government access to data and will cut back on independent oversight. Dr. Wetzling is quoted in the article calling, among other things, for an extension of the current remit of the Independent Control Council (UKRat) and further scrutiny on the German Armed Forces' intelligence collection (MilNW).
