Hannah Aeterna Borne (she/her) supports SNV's Digital Rights, Surveillance and Democracy unit as a student assistant. She studied International Relations at Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Universität Potsdam (MA), and American Studies at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the University of Utah (BA). She is now pursuing a PhD degree at BGTS in Berlin, focusing on the use of surveillance technology in international conflict.
She previously held various positions in the academic sector with respective foci on international security policy, security and surveillance, and US foreign policy. Through internships, she gained insights into the work of think tanks and human rights NGOs in Salt Lake City and Vienna.
