interface is a European think tank at the intersection of digital technology, politics, and society. Our goal: to bring solid knowledge and new ideas into policymaking—independent, fact-based, and free from commercial or party-political interests.
Our finance team ensures sustainable budget planning across all areas of the organization, optimizes the use of limited resources, and ensures compliance with the specific financial and tax requirements of nonprofit work.
As a Finance Assistant, you will take on a variety of tasks related to financial administration and have the opportunity to further develop your expertise. You will be supported and guided by our Lead Grants & Finance.
This position is part-time (70%) and initially limited to two years.
Your Responsibilities
Finance Administration & Controlling

Preparatory accounting, including accounts payable management

Monitoring income and managing payments

Preparing and sending invoices
-
Travel expense management, including compliance checks with legal requirements

Preparing the monthly personnel cost allocations (for the external payroll office)

Managing international payroll processes (focus: Belgium, Austria, France, in collaboration with external providers)

Supporting project controlling

General administrative tasks in finance and controlling, e.g., preparing Excel spreadsheets for reports
Grants Management

Ongoing preparation of fund requests

Supporting the preparation of interim and final financial reports

Preparing donation confirmations

General support tasks in grants management, e.g., compiling documents for funding applications
Your Profile

At least 2 years of experience in finance (accounting, payments, etc.)

You enjoy working with numbers and administrative processes, work very accurately, and have a sharp eye for detail

Despite your attention to detail, you maintain good time management

You work in a structured and independent manner and can prioritize effectively. If something doesn’t work, you proactively look for a solution

You communicate professionally and courteously

You stay calm even during busy periods

You have excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken. The organizational working language is English, while many tasks in the finance team occur in a German-language context

You are confident using MS Office (especially Excel) and are generally comfortable with digital tools. Experience with Datev Unternehmen Online is a plus

You are open to collaborating in a remote team
