  of sources\, limiting clarity on the quality of those sources\, misrepres
 enting content\, and reducing traffic that makes independent journalism fi
 nancially viable - in short\, threatening the model of a healthy and accou
 ntable digital public sphere. \n\nFor journalism\, this means a deeper sh
 ift than declining clicks: AI systems are mediating what people know and b
 elieve\, the decisions they make\, and their ability to access trustworthy
