Netzpolitik.org, together with a number of other journalistic outlets, have recently published an update to their Databroker Files - a series on unregulated data trading in online advertisement and intelligence. Their latest article, published on November 4, focusses on shortcomings of European data protection and reveals security concerns regarding missing regulation of mobile phone location data sales.
The article features statements by Dr. Thorsten Wetzling and Corbinian Ruckerbauer on the threat posed by the advertising industry’s collection of mobile phone location data and the lack of regulation and oversight on the practice of advertisement intelligence (ADINT) in European legal frameworks on intelligence collection.
