On November 5, the Aspen Institute Germany invited Dr. Thorsten Wetzling to speak to a delegation of U.S. state legislators about current developments in digital policy, particular with regard to the protection of digital rights. Dr. Thorsten Wetzling focused on the acquisition and use of personal data for national security purposes and its implications for the protection of fundamental rights. Additionally, he illustrated how policy and regulation in our democracies can be designed to provide a better shield against disproportionate government access to data.
