Why EU Must Limit Political Micro-Targeting

Social networks and other digital platforms allow political campaigns to target quite homogeneous and small voter groups. Campaigns can thus pay to send specific groups exactly the messages these people want to hear. Such micro-targeting usually takes place in secret and can solidify social divisions. Therefore, the EU should introduce limits to micro-targeting, Julian Jaursch argues in this opinion piece for EUobserver.
